CCA Treating
Chromated Copper Arsenate (CCA) is a water-based pesticide and preservative providing protection from termites and fungal decay. Copper acts as the primary fungicide, preventing rot and decay. Arsenic acts as an insecticide to stop termites and ants and protects against copper-tolerant fungi. Chromium acts as fixative. It creates reaction call fixations that binds the copper and arsenic to woods cellular structure, preventing them from leaching out easily.
CCA treatment in permitted for industrial and agricultural applications. CCA treatment for commercial and residential applications is restricted.
